Why Am I Telling You This? | ymitmiblog.com

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Welcome to Why Am I Telling You This? a personal blog about oversharing, the stories we tell, the things we probably shouldn’t have said out loud, and the inevitable regret that sometimes follows.

Before you settle in, here are a few things you should know. Think of this as the less entertaining part of oversharing: the fine print.

1. The Stories, Opinions & Advice (or Lack Thereof)

Everything published on this blog reflects personal experiences, observations, opinions and perspectives. This is a personal blog, not a professional publication, counselling service, medical resource or substitute for qualified professional advice.

Although I may discuss mental health, psychology, relationships, grief, embarrassment and other deeply human experiences, I am sharing stories and exploring ideas, not diagnosing anyone, providing treatment or claiming to have all the answers.

If a story resonates with you, makes you laugh, or makes you feel a little less alone, wonderful. If it raises questions about your own health or circumstances, please consult a qualified professional who can provide advice specific to you.

In short: I’m here to tell stories, not prescribe solutions. Please don’t make important medical, mental health, financial or other personal decisions based solely on something you read here.

2. Interviews & Other People’s Opinions

From time to time, this blog may feature interviews with individuals who share their personal experiences, perspectives or professional insights.

The views expressed by interviewees belong to them and do not necessarily reflect my own views. An interview does not constitute an endorsement of every statement made, nor does it establish a professional relationship between the interviewee and the reader.

I make reasonable efforts to represent conversations fairly and accurately, but interviews may be edited for length, clarity and readability. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, interviewees are speaking in their own capacity and not necessarily on behalf of their employers or affiliated organizations.

3. A Note About My Identity

I do not use my full legal name publicly. This is a personal choice that allows me to share stories while maintaining some separation between my online writing and my offline life.

However, this is not a guarantee of anonymity. Details within a story, information shared with third-party services, or other publicly available information could potentially identify me or someone mentioned in a post.

I make reasonable efforts to respect the privacy of others, but stories may contain identifying details or circumstances. If you believe a post discloses sensitive personal information about you, please contact me so we can discuss the concern.

4. Copyright: Please Don’t Steal My Oversharing

Unless otherwise indicated, the original writing, illustrations, graphics and other creative content published on this blog belong to the blog author and are protected by applicable copyright law.

You are welcome to share links to posts and quote brief excerpts for commentary, criticism or other purposes permitted by law, provided you give appropriate credit and link back to the original post.

You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell or substantially copy my content without prior written permission, except where permitted by applicable law. Please contact me if you would like to use my work beyond these terms.

If a post contains third-party material, that material may belong to its respective owner and may be subject to separate restrictions.

5. Generative AI & Creative Assistance

Generative AI tools may be used to assist with aspects of this blog’s creation, such as brainstorming, proofreading, research support or the development of images and other creative materials.

The intention is to preserve the author’s personal perspective, experiences and voice. AI-generated material may contain errors, inaccuracies or misleading information, and any AI-assisted content should not automatically be assumed to be accurate or independently verified.

Where generative AI makes a material contribution to published content or imagery, I aim to disclose that use where appropriate. I do not intend to present fabricated personal experiences or invented interview statements as genuine events or quotations.

AI tools are not a substitute for professional advice, and readers should independently verify important information.

6. Brand Partnerships, Advertising & Affiliate Links

If this blog includes sponsored content, paid partnerships, affiliate links, gifted products or other material connections with brands or organizations, I will aim to disclose those relationships clearly in the relevant post or alongside the applicable link.

A material connection means something that could reasonably affect how a reader interprets a recommendation or endorsement, such as payment, a commission or a free product.

Any opinions expressed in sponsored or affiliate content will be identified as appropriate. Readers should not assume that a product or service has been independently tested or endorsed simply because it appears on this blog.

If no disclosure appears, that should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a product or service is suitable for you.

7. Comments: Oversharing Is Welcome, Within Reason

Comments are welcome, provided they remain respectful and lawful. Disagreement is fine. Constructive discussion is encouraged. Personal attacks, harassment and the unnecessary exposure of someone else’s private business are not.

I reserve the right to remove or decline to publish comments that I consider abusive, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, spam-related, misleading, privacy-invasive or otherwise inappropriate.

Please do not post personal information about yourself or another person that you would not want made publicly available. Comments may be visible to anyone who visits the blog and may be copied, shared or indexed by search engines.

I may not review comments immediately and cannot guarantee that every inappropriate comment will be identified or removed promptly. The presence of a comment does not mean that I endorse its contents.

By submitting a comment, you retain ownership of your original contribution but grant me permission to display it on the blog and make reasonable formatting or moderation edits. This permission does not transfer ownership of your work.

8. Reader Surveys & Submitted Stories

From time to time, I may invite readers to participate in surveys or submit stories, experiences or other contributions.

Participation is voluntary. Please avoid including names, contact details or other identifying information about yourself or another person unless it is genuinely necessary and you understand how it may be used.

Unless a survey explicitly says otherwise, please do not assume that responses are anonymous or confidential. Information collected through a form may be processed or stored by a third-party service under that service’s own terms and privacy practices.

I may summarize or discuss survey findings in blog posts. I will aim to avoid identifying individual respondents without their permission.

Please contact me if you have questions about a submission or wish to discuss its removal.

9. Privacy & Personal Information

I respect the privacy of readers and aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate this blog and manage reader interactions.

Depending on the features you use, information may be collected when you leave a comment, complete a survey, contact me or interact with the website. Website hosting, WordPress features, embedded content, analytics or other third-party services may also collect technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details or cookies, depending on their configuration.

I do not intend to sell readers’ personal information. However, information may be processed by service providers that help operate the website, or disclosed where required or permitted by law.

Please remember that information you post publicly may be accessible to others beyond my control.

If you have a privacy question or concern, please contact me through the contact method provided on the blog. I will consider reasonable requests concerning personal information in accordance with applicable law.

10. Accuracy, Availability & Limitation of Liability

I make reasonable efforts to ensure that the information published here is accurate and presented in good faith. However, personal recollections can be imperfect, opinions can change, and information may become outdated.

This blog and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. I do not guarantee that every statement is complete, accurate, current or suitable for every reader, or that the website will always be available or free from technical issues.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, I disclaim liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on blog content, the use or inability to use the website, or interactions with third-party websites and services linked from it.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, or overrides any rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

11. External Links

This blog may link to external websites, articles, research, organizations or other resources for context or further reading.

These links are provided for convenience and information. I do not control third-party websites and am not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or terms. A link does not necessarily imply endorsement.

Please review the relevant website’s policies before sharing personal information or engaging with its services.

12. Changes to This Policy

As this blog evolves, these terms may need to evolve with it. I reserve the right to update this page from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.

Your continued use of the blog after an update indicates that you have had an opportunity to review the revised policy. Where applicable law requires a different approach to notice or consent, I will follow those requirements.

13. Contact

Questions, concerns about privacy, requests to use my work, or comments about something I’ve published?

Please use the contact method provided on ymitmiblog.com.

I’m happy to have a conversation. Just remember that not every conversation needs to become a blog post.

Thanks for reading, for sharing, and for understanding that sometimes the best stories come with a little fine print.

Overshare responsibly.
