Hello. My name is Brittany and I am an oversharer.
Hi Brittany.
I’ve been oversharing since kindergarten and can’t stop. (Won’t stop?)
I like to entertain, connect, relate, make people laugh and, sometimes (most times?), make it all about me.
I also, almost instantly, wish I could pluck the words I’ve just shared from the air, shove them back down my throat and hide them where normal people keep their secrets (please, where is this sacred space?).
Why do we tell people things we probably shouldn’t? Why does saying the thing sometimes make us feel better, even when we immediately regret having said it? Why, despite years of evidence suggesting otherwise, do I continue to believe that this time, I’ll know when to stop talking?
Not a clue, but I’m going to try to find out, and hopefully, along the way, figure out how to stop (caring?).
Also, what better way to overshare, sans shame, than with an anonymous blog?
I’ll stop talking now (boldfaced lie).
